And this is my wife Sarah and my kids, Chip and Autumn.

I’m the founder and head craftsman at Anvil Hide Leatherworks.

And here’s something most top pet stores don’t want you to know...

Most “leather” collars out there are rubbish!

After only about a year the leather starts to crack and split...

The holes stretch out and distort...

Or the buckles end up breaking. 

That’s because they use inferior bonded leather - leather offcuts and filings glued together and stamped “Genuine Leather”.

This so called “leather”, which isn’t real leather at all, break down quickly, soon looking tired and shabby - leaving your dog looking less then his best. 

Even some of the most popular brand name collars are often mass produced in foreign factories and go from the first to the final step without a leather craftsman even looking at them. 

These overpriced collars do not stand the test of time, they breakdown, look ugly, are uncomfortable for the dog and in 12 months, you are looking for a replacement.

We only use the best full grain vegetable tanned bridle and harness leathers from the world’s finest tanneries (like Thomas Ware and Sons in the UK, or Weaver select in the USA). 

Designed specially with the comfort of the animal in mind, the bridle leather we use is supple yet strong - able to handle the elements that come with the life of an outdoor and active animal,  while remaining comfortable.

Just like high end leather boots that break in develop a beautiful patina over time and become the perfect fit, our leather collars are of such a high standard that they actually get better the longer they are worn.

 

Anvil Hide collars are made using bridle leather specifically designed for the sensitive areas of a horses head (the muzzle, forehead and cheek) so they are super comfortable and tough enough to standup to the rigours of everyday dog life

Our collars and leads are cut by hand from the hide, edges are rounded and burnished and holes are punched all by hand and fitted with solid brass or stainless steel hardware and buckles for a collar that will still be looking great years down the track. 

And because they are all-natural and made with care, they not only last longer, they feel better too, providing all-day comfort for your pup for the coming years.
